Kristin Witt
Who is Kristin?
Kristin Witt lives in a mountain town in Colorado where she worked for the last many years as publisher of the local newspaper. Her belief in the written word and the power it wields made the newspaper industry a good fit, and her conviction that a community newspaper is paramount to the success of small town America, turned her commitment into a passion. The newspaper found great success and was the recipient of many Colorado Press Association awards, including the Innovation Award, considered the most prestigious award given by the Press Association. During her time with the paper, she was inducted into the Rocky Mountain Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame, an award that she didn’t expect and about which she feels truly honored. Kristin has cared about words and the way they can bring joy and conviction in equal parts to the open minded reader since she was eight years old when she declared that she would be an author one day. She has written for many publications in Colorado including a column in a monthly magazine that was entitled Steep Thoughts. It was a humorous look at life and the haphazard way it is lived, and it is still one of her favorite writing accomplishments. In past lives Kristin has been the Executive Director of a non-profit that raised money for six area volunteer fire departments, she has taught Music and Fine Arts at a private school, and she has worked as Accounting and Membership Director for the local Chamber of Commerce. She currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Center for the Arts in her area. Kristin loves the nuance of a small town and the delicious complications and rewards it brings to the every day. She shares her life with her husband of 42 years, her daughter and son-in-law, and their smarter than average Rhodesian Ridgeback/Hungarian Vizsla mix – a large dog with an even larger heart. Kristin’s life basically revolves around three things. Her faith, her family, and her devotion to a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. All three serve as her fuel and her inspiration, and she is ever thankful for each of them. |
